NBC orders Josh Schwartz's 'Lesbo' script

NBC has ordered a script for half-hour "My Best Friend Is A Lesbo" from "Gossip Girl" executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage and their Fake Empire shingle via Warner Bros Television. The script is a single-camera comedy about a pair of female best friends, one gay and one straight. Writers are Sascha Rothchild and Randi Barnes, who will also serve as co-executive producers. It's an eye-catching concept reminiscent of another Peacock hit about friendships that bridged the sexual-orientation divide--"Will & Grace"--but NBC Entertainment topper Bob Greenblatt is on the lookout for provocative ideas. Fake Empire has had a pod deal at Warner Bros. since early last year. The shingle will see its current NBC series "Chuck" leave the air this year as they launch another one on The CW, "Hart of Dixie." Schwartz and Savage first collaborated on the Fox hit "The O.C."
